Contacts and Directions for
the Potomac Polo Club

Home of the Washington DC area's oldest polo club, since 1956 

 

 

 

From the Capital Beltway (495):

  1. Take Exit 39 (MD-190/River Road) towards Washington/Potomac.

  2. Keep left at the fork in the ramp.

  3. Merge onto MD-190 W for 11.5 miles.

  4. Turn left onto River Road (Seneca Road will be to your right).

  5. Follow River Road to Partnership Road, and turn right.

  6. Keep on Partnership until the road merge with MD-107.

  7. Turn left, at MD-107, and travel to the town of Poolesville

  8. At the Chevron Station turn right onto  Beallsville Rd. (Rt 109)

  9. On Beallsville Road  drive 1 mile to the large outdoor polo arena (on your right).  

  10. The  polo field will be on your right over the hill by the arena.

Grass Field Events: Enter next to the large, white outdoor polo arena and proceed along the dirt road to the back polo field. Park along the hillside and do not drive onto the field for any reason.  Trailer parking at north and south hillside ends of the field.

Hotel Information

There are innumerable hotel options close to the Potomac Polo Club.  Prime considerations are:  proximity to polo events, proximity to sights within Washington DC, cost and finally style.  All of these can be accommodated.  The Club is about 40 minutes from downtown Washington, DC and about 30 minutes through country roads from Frederick, MD or Germantown and Gaithersburg, MD.

Nearby in Frederick, Germantown and Gaithersburg are many hotels and motels of nationally recognized chains, such as Marriott, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn, and Quality Suites.   Some examples are provided below in no particular order of preference.

Country Accommodations

Catoctin Inn

Country bed and breakfast accommodations are available at The Catoctin Inn, which is about 10 minutes from the Club in the Nationally Registered Historic Village of Buckeystown, a village with pre-revolutionary roots and a strong Civil War influence.  The historic Inn offers rooms in the c. 1780 main house; restored Cottage outbuildings; and the expanded stable hands' guest quarters. The Inn at Buckeystown

Just a few blocks from the Catoctin Inn is Victorian bed and breakfast inn, The Inn at Buckeystown.  The Inn occupies and 1879 mansion and has a wonderful wrap around porch for relaxing in the evenings.  There are nine themed guestrooms; however, only five have private baths.
